Ingredients

For the Dough:

4 cups all-purpose flour

1/4 cup granulated sugar

1 packet (2 1/4 tsp) active dry yeast

1 teaspoon salt

1 cup warm milk (110°F/45°C)

1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted

2 large eggs

For the Filling:

2 medium apples, peeled and diced (preferably Granny Smith)

1/4 cup brown sugar

1 tablespoon ground cinnamon

1 tablespoon lemon juice

1/4 teaspoon nutmeg

1/4 cup unsalted butter, softened

For the Cream Cheese Glaze:

4 oz cream cheese, softened

1/2 cup powdered sugar

1 tablespoon milk

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

Prepare the Dough:

    - In a large mixing bowl, combine warm milk, sugar, and yeast. Let it sit for about 5-10 minutes until frothy.

      - Add melted butter, eggs, and salt to the mixture. Gradually incorporate flour, mixing until a dough forms.

        - Knead the dough on a lightly floured surface for about 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic. Place in a greased bowl, cover with a towel, and let rise in a warm spot for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.

          Make the Filling:

            - In a separate bowl, mix together the prepared apples, brown sugar, cinnamon, lemon juice, and nutmeg. Set aside.

              Roll Out the Dough:

                - Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).

                  - Once the dough has risen, punch it down and turn it out onto a floured surface. Roll it into a rectangle (about 16x12 inches) with a thickness of 1/4 inch.

                    Add the Filling:

                      - Spread softened butter over the entire surface of the rolled-out dough. Evenly distribute the apple filling over the buttered dough.

                        Roll and Cut:

                          - Starting from the long edge, carefully roll the dough into a tight log. Cut into 12 equal rolls using a sharp knife or dental floss.

                            Second Rise:

                              - Place the rolls in a greased baking dish, cover with a towel, and let them rise for another 30 minutes.

                                Bake the Rolls:

                                  - Once risen, bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes until golden brown.

                                    Prepare the Glaze:

                                      - While the rolls are baking, beat together softened cream cheese, powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla extract until smooth and creamy.

                                        Drizzle and Serve:

                                          - Remove the rolls from the oven and let them cool for about 10 minutes. Drizzle the cream cheese glaze over warm rolls. Serve and enjoy!
