Ingredients

1 pound ground beef (80/20)

1 pound ground pork

1 cup breadcrumbs (preferably Italian seasoned)

1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese

1/4 cup fresh parsley, chopped

2 cloves garlic, minced

1 large egg

1 teaspoon salt

1/2 teaspoon black pepper

1 teaspoon Italian seasoning

8 ounces mozzarella cheese, cut into small cubes

2 cups marinara sauce (homemade or store-bought)

Fresh basil leaves for garnish (optional)

Instructions

Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

Prepare the Meatball Mixture: In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, ground pork, breadcrumbs, grated Parmesan cheese, chopped parsley, minced garlic, egg, salt, black pepper, and Italian seasoning. Mix until well combined, but be careful not to overwork the meat.

Stuff the Meatballs: Take a small portion of the meat mixture (about 1.5 ounces) and flatten it in your hand. Place one cheese cube in the center, fold the meat around the cheese, and roll it into a ball shape. Repeat until all the meat mixture is used.

Arrange on Baking Sheet: Place the stuffed meatballs on the prepared baking sheet, spacing them about an inch apart.

Bake the Meatballs: Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until the meatballs are cooked through and golden brown.

Heat the Sauce: While the meatballs are baking, heat the marinara sauce in a large skillet over medium heat until warm.

Combine and Serve: Once the meatballs are baked, gently transfer them to the skillet with the marinara sauce. Allow them to simmer in the sauce for about 5 minutes to absorb the flavors.

Garnish and Enjoy: Serve hot, garnished with fresh basil leaves if desired. Pair with spaghetti, garlic bread, or serve as an appetizer with toothpicks!
