Ingredients

1 lb beef sirloin, thinly sliced against the grain

2 tablespoons cornstarch

2 tablespoons vegetable oil

1 medium onion, sliced

1 red bell pepper, sliced

1 cup broccoli florets

3 cloves garlic, minced

1-inch piece ginger, minced

3 tablespoons soy sauce

2 tablespoons oyster sauce

1 tablespoon hoisin sauce

1 tablespoon sesame oil

1 tablespoon rice vinegar

1 tablespoon brown sugar

1 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional for spice)

Cooked jasmine rice or noodles for serving

Chopped green onions and sesame seeds for garnish

Instructions

Marinate the Beef: In a bowl, toss the sliced beef with cornstarch, ensuring each piece is coated well. Allow it to marinate for about 15 minutes to tenderize and create a nice crust during cooking.

Prepare the Sauce: In a separate bowl, whisk together the soy sauce, oyster sauce, hoisin sauce, sesame oil, rice vinegar, brown sugar, and red pepper flakes if using. Set aside.

Heat the Wok: In a large wok or frying pan, heat 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil over high heat until shimmering.

Cook the Beef: Add the marinated beef in a single layer, cooking without stirring for about 1-2 minutes until it gets a nice sear. Stir-fry for another 2-3 minutes, or until it's browned but not fully cooked. Remove the beef from the pan and set aside.

Sauté Veggies: In the same pan, add the remaining tablespoon of vegetable oil. Toss in the sliced onion, red bell pepper, and broccoli. Stir-fry for about 3-4 minutes until just tender.

Add Aromatics: Add the minced garlic and ginger to the pan with the vegetables, cooking for an additional minute until fragrant.

Combine Ingredients: Return the beef to the pan, pour in the prepared sauce, and toss everything together until the beef is fully cooked and coated in the sauce, about 2-3 minutes.

Serve: Remove from heat and serve over cooked jasmine rice or noodles. Garnish with chopped green onions and sesame seeds for an extra flavor boost.
