Ingredients

For the Biscuit Crust:

2 cups all-purpose flour

1 tablespoon baking powder

1/2 teaspoon salt

1/2 cup unsalted butter, cold and cubed

3/4 cup buttermilk

For the Sausage Gravy:

1 pound breakfast sausage (pork or turkey)

1/4 cup all-purpose flour

2 cups milk (whole or 2%)

1/2 teaspoon black pepper

1/4 teaspoon salt

1/4 teaspoon garlic powder

1/4 teaspoon onion powder

Optional: pinch of cayenne pepper for heat

For the Toppings:

1 1/2 cups shredded cheddar cheese

2 large eggs

Fresh chives or parsley for garnish (optional)

Instructions

Make the Biscuit Dough:

    - Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C).

      - In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt.

        - Add the cold, cubed butter into the flour mixture using a fork or your fingers until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.

          - Pour in the buttermilk and stir until just combined. Do not overmix.

            Shape the Biscuit Crust:

              - On a floured surface, roll out the dough to about 1/2 inch thick and shape it into a circle or rectangle to fit your pizza stone or baking sheet.

                - Place the dough on a parchment-lined baking sheet and bake for 10-12 minutes until lightly golden.

                  Prepare the Sausage Gravy:

                    - In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the breakfast sausage, breaking it apart with a spatula, until browned and cooked through (about 5-7 minutes).

                      - Sprinkle the flour over the cooked sausage and stir well to coat. Cook for an additional 1-2 minutes.

                        - Gradually whisk in the milk, ensuring no lumps remain. Continue to cook, stirring often, until the gravy thickens (about 5-7 minutes).

                          - Add the black pepper, salt, garlic powder, onion powder, and cayenne if using. Adjust seasoning to taste.

                            Assemble the Pizza:

                              - Once the biscuit crust is ready, remove it from the oven and spread the sausage gravy evenly over the top.

                                - Sprinkle the shredded cheddar cheese generously over the gravy.

                                  Add the Eggs:

                                    - Create two small wells in the toppings and crack an egg into each well (you can opt for scrambled eggs if preferred).

                                      - Return the pizza to the oven and bake for an additional 8-10 minutes, or until the eggs are set to your liking and the cheese is melted.

                                        Serve:

                                          - Remove from the oven and let it cool slightly. Garnish with fresh chives or parsley if desired. Slice and serve warm.
