Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and line an 8-inch square baking dish with parchment paper, letting the paper hang over the sides for easy removal later.

    Make the Brownie Layer:

      - In a medium saucepan, melt the butter over low heat. Remove from heat and stir in the sugar until well combined.

        - Add the eggs one by one, mixing well after each addition, then stir in the vanilla extract.

          - In a separate bowl, whisk together the cocoa powder, flour, salt, and baking powder. Gradually fold this dry mixture into the wet mixture until just combined. Do not overmix; it's okay if there are a few small lumps.

            Prepare the Cream Cheese Layer:

              - In a mixing bowl, beat the softened cream cheese with an electric mixer until smooth.

                - Add the sugar, egg, and vanilla extract, beating until well combined. Be careful not to overmix.

                  Layer the Mixtures:

                    - Pour half of the brownie batter into the prepared dish and spread it evenly.
