Ingredients

8 oz. small pasta shells (such as elbow or conchiglie)

1 lb. ground turkey

1 cup sharp cheddar cheese, shredded

1 cup cream cheese, softened

1 can (15 oz.) chili (with or without beans, depending on preference)

1 tsp garlic powder

1 tsp onion powder

½ tsp ground cumin

½ tsp smoked paprika

Salt and black pepper to taste

1 cup diced tomatoes (canned or fresh)

½ cup green onions, chopped (for garnish)

Olive oil for frying (or cooking spray for baking)

Instructions

Cook the Pasta: Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add the pasta shells and cook according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.

Prepare the Turkey Mixture: In a large skillet over medium heat, add a drizzle of olive oil. Sauté the ground turkey until browned and cooked through, breaking it apart with a spoon. Add garlic powder, onion powder, cumin, smoked paprika, salt, and pepper to the turkey, mixing well.

Mix in the Cheeses: Reduce the heat to low and add the cream cheese to the turkey mixture, stirring until melted and creamy. Then fold in the shredded cheddar cheese until melted and evenly combined.

Combine Ingredients: In a large bowl, combine the cooked pasta with the turkey and cheese mixture. Stir in the chili and diced tomatoes until everything is well incorporated.

Stuff the Pasta Shells: Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C) if baking. If frying, heat oil in a deep pan. Using a spoon, fill each pasta shell with the chili cheese turkey mixture. Place them in a greased baking dish or hold them aside if frying.

            Bake or Fry:

              - Baking: Cover the baking dish with aluminum foil and bake for 20-25 minutes. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 10 minutes until bubbly and golden.

                - Frying: Carefully place the filled pasta shells into the hot oil, cooking for about 2-3 minutes on each side until golden brown. Remove and drain on paper towels.

Serve and Garnish: Remove from the oven or oil and let cool slightly. Top with chopped green onions for garnish. Serve hot with your choice of dipping sauce (sour cream, salsa, or extra cheese sauce).
