Ingredients

1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter

2 cups granulated sugar

4 large eggs

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1 cup all-purpose flour

1 cup unsweetened cocoa powder

1/2 teaspoon salt

1/2 teaspoon baking powder

1 cup chocolate chips (optional)

1/2 cup chopped nuts (optional)

Instructions

Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9x13 inch baking pan or line it with parchment paper for easy removal.

Melt Butter: In a medium saucepan, melt the butter over low heat. Once melted, remove from heat and let it cool slightly.

Mix Sugars & Eggs: In a large mixing bowl, combine the melted butter with granulated sugar and stir until smooth. Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition, then add the vanilla extract.

Combine Dry Ingredients: In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, salt, and baking powder until evenly combined.

Combine Wet and Dry Mixtures: Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, stirring gently until just combined. Be careful not to overmix; the batter should be thick and fudgy.

Add Chips & Nuts (Optional): If using, fold in the chocolate chips and chopped nuts for an extra layer of texture and flavor.

Bake: Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan and spread it evenly. Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out with a few moist crumbs.

Cool & Slice: Allow the brownies to cool in the pan on a wire rack for at least 10 minutes before slicing into squares. For best results, cool completely before serving.

Serve: Enjoy them warm or at room temperature, plain or with a scoop of ice cream on top for an indulgent treat!
