Ingredients

1 cup unsalted butter, softened

1 cup granulated sugar

1/2 cup brown sugar, packed

Zest of 1 large orange

2 large eggs

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour

1 teaspoon baking soda

1/2 teaspoon baking powder

1/4 teaspoon salt

1 cup white chocolate chips

1/2 cup orange-flavored candy or gummy candies, chopped

1 cup powdered sugar (for frosting, optional)

2 tablespoons fresh orange juice (for frosting, optional)

Additional orange zest (for garnish, optional)

Instructions

Cream the Butter and Sugars: In a large mixing bowl, beat the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar together until light and fluffy, about 3-4 minutes.

Add Orange Zest and Eggs: Mix in the orange zest, eggs, and vanilla extract until well combined.

Combine Dry Ingredients: In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, baking powder, and salt.

Incorporate Dry Ingredients: Gradually add the dry ingredients to the butter mixture, mixing on low speed until just combined.

Fold in Chocolates and Candies: Gently fold in the white chocolate chips and chopped orange-flavored candies until evenly distributed throughout the dough.

Chill the Dough: Cover the dough with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes. This helps the cookies maintain their shape while baking.

Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line baking sheets with parchment paper.

Scoop the Cookies: Using a cookie scoop or tablespoon, drop dough balls onto the prepared baking sheets, spacing them about 2 inches apart.

Bake: Bake in the preheated oven for 10-12 minutes, or until the edges are lightly golden but the centers are still soft. Remove from the oven and let them cool on the baking sheets for about 5 minutes before transferring to wire racks to cool completely.

Frosting (Optional): For an extra special touch, whisk together the powdered sugar and fresh orange juice until smooth. Drizzle the frosting over the cooled cookies and sprinkle with additional orange zest, if desired.

Serve and Enjoy: Enjoy your delightful creamsicle orange cookies with a glass of milk or your favorite beverage!
