Creamy Chicken and Broccoli Pasta Bake

12 oz (340 g) penne pasta

2 cups cooked chicken breast, shredded

2 cups fresh broccoli florets

2 tablespoons olive oil

3 cloves garlic, minced

1 medium onion, finely chopped

1 teaspoon dried Italian herbs (oregano, basil, thyme)

1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)

2 cups heavy cream

1 cup grated Parmesan cheese

1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese

Salt and pepper to taste

Fresh parsley for garnish

Instructions
 

Cook the Pasta: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). In a large pot, bring salted water to a boil. Cook the penne pasta according to package instructions until al dente. Add the broccoli florets to the pot during the last 2-3 minutes of cooking. Drain and set aside.

    Sauté the Vegetables: In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and sauté until translucent, about 3-4 minutes. Stir in the minced garlic and cook for another 1-2 minutes until fragrant.

      Prepare the Sauce: Add the shredded chicken, Italian herbs, red pepper flakes, heavy cream, and half of the Parmesan cheese to the skillet. Stir continuously until everything is well combined and heated through. Season with salt and pepper to your taste.

        Combine Pasta and Sauce: In a large mixing bowl, combine the cooked pasta and broccoli with the creamy chicken sauce. Mix until the pasta is evenly coated.

          Assemble the Bake: Transfer the pasta mixture to a greased 9x13 inch (23x33 cm) baking dish. Sprinkle the remaining Parmesan cheese and mozzarella cheese evenly on top.

            Bake: Place the dish in the preheated oven and bake for about 25-30 minutes, or until the cheese is golden and bubbly.

              Garnish and Serve: Remove from the oven and let it cool for a few minutes. Garnish with fresh parsley, and serve hot.
