Ingredients

16 oz frozen meatballs (beef, turkey, or plant-based)

2 cups uncooked penne pasta

3 cups marinara sauce (preferably homemade or high-quality store-bought)

2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese

1 cup water

1 teaspoon garlic powder

1 teaspoon Italian seasoning

1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional, for heat)

Fresh basil or parsley for garnish (optional)

Instructions

Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).

Prepare the Baking Dish: In a 9x13 inch baking dish, combine the frozen meatballs, uncooked penne pasta, garlic powder, Italian seasoning, and red pepper flakes if using. Stir until the ingredients are evenly distributed.

Mix the Sauce: In a medium bowl, whisk together the marinara sauce and water until well combined. Pour this mixture over the meatball and pasta mixture in the baking dish. Use a spatula to ensure the pasta is covered with the sauce.

Cheesy Topping: Evenly sprinkle the shredded mozzarella cheese over the top of the casserole.

Cover and Bake: Cover the baking dish tightly with aluminum foil to retain moisture, and bake in the preheated oven for 40 minutes.

Uncover and Brown: After 40 minutes, carefully remove the foil and bake for an additional 10-15 minutes, or until the cheese is bubbly and golden brown.

Garnish and Serve: Once baked, let the casserole sit for about 5 minutes. Garnish with fresh basil or parsley if desired, and serve hot.
