Ingredients

8 ounces spaghetti or linguine

1 pound large shrimp, peeled and deveined

4 tablespoons unsalted butter

4 cloves garlic, minced

1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes (adjust for spice preference)

Salt and black pepper, to taste

1/4 cup fresh parsley, chopped (or more for garnish)

1/2 cup cherry tomatoes, halved (optional)

Juice of 1 lemon

Grated Parmesan cheese, for serving

Instructions

Cook the Pasta: In a large pot of boiling salted water, cook the spaghetti or linguine according to package instructions until al dente. Drain, reserving about 1 cup of pasta water, and set aside.

Sauté the Shrimp: In a large skillet over medium heat, melt the butter. Once melted, add the minced garlic and red pepper flakes, sautéing for about 1 minute until fragrant. Be careful not to burn the garlic.

Cook the Shrimp: Add the shrimp to the skillet. Season with salt and black pepper, and cook for about 2-3 minutes per side until the shrimp turn pink and are cooked through. Remove them from the skillet and set aside.

Combine Pasta and Sauce: In the same skillet, add the cooked pasta along with the reserved pasta water (start with 1/2 cup and adjust for desired thickness). Toss to coat the pasta in the garlic butter sauce. If using cherry tomatoes, add them now and sauté for an additional 2 minutes until they soften.

Add Shrimp and Lemon: Return the cooked shrimp to the skillet. Squeeze the lemon juice over the pasta and toss everything together until well combined. Taste and adjust seasoning if necessary.

Serve: Divide the pasta into bowls, sprinkle with chopped parsley, and finish with grated Parmesan cheese. Serve immediately while hot.
