Ingredients

1 cup of pizza dough (store-bought or homemade)

½ cup pizza sauce

1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese

½ cup pepperoni slices (or your choice of fillings such as cooked vegetables or sausage)

1 tsp dried oregano

1 tsp garlic powder

1 tbsp olive oil

Cooking spray

Fresh basil leaves (for garnish, optional)

Instructions

Prep the Dough: If using store-bought pizza dough, let it sit at room temperature for about 20 minutes. For homemade dough, roll it out on a lightly floured surface to about ¼ inch thick.

Cut Out Circles: Use a round cutter (about 4-5 inches in diameter) to cut circles from the rolled-out dough. You should get about 4-6 circles, depending on thickness and size.

Assemble the Calzones: On one half of each dough circle, spread about a tablespoon of pizza sauce. Sprinkle a portion of shredded mozzarella cheese, a few pepperoni slices, and a pinch of dried oregano and garlic powder.

Seal the Calzones: Fold the dough over to create a half-moon shape. Pinch the edges tightly to seal, and use a fork to crimp the edges for an extra secure seal and decorative touch.

Prepare for Air Frying: Lightly brush or spray the calzones with olive oil to ensure a golden crispness.

Cooking Time: Preheat your air fryer to 375°F (190°C). Arrange the calzones in a single layer in the air fryer basket, making sure to leave space for air circulation.

Air Fry the Calzones: Cook for 8-10 minutes or until they are golden brown and puffed up. If necessary, cook in batches to avoid overcrowding.

Serve: Carefully remove the calzones from the air fryer. Allow them to cool slightly before serving. Garnish with fresh basil leaves if desired. Enjoy your mini calzones with extra pizza sauce on the side for dipping!
