Ingredients

1 lb ground beef

1/2 cup breadcrumbs

1/4 cup finely chopped onion

1/4 cup milk

1 large egg

2 cloves garlic, minced

1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce

1 teaspoon Dijon mustard

1 teaspoon salt

1/2 teaspoon black pepper

1 tablespoon olive oil

1 cup beef broth

1 cup mushrooms, sliced

1 tablespoon fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

Optional: mashed potatoes or green beans for serving

Instructions

Prepare the Meat Mixture: In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, breadcrumbs, chopped onion, milk, egg, minced garlic, Worcestershire sauce, Dijon mustard, salt, and black pepper. Mix gently with your hands until just combined; avoid overmixing.

Shape Patties: Divide the mixture into four equal portions and shape each portion into oval patties, about 3/4 inch thick.

Sear the Patties: Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Once hot, add the patties and sear for about 3-4 minutes on each side until nicely browned. Remove the patties from the skillet and set aside.

Cook the Mushrooms: In the same skillet, add the sliced mushrooms. Sauté for about 5 minutes, or until they are browned and tender.

Make the Gravy: Add the beef broth to the skillet with mushrooms, scraping up any browned bits from the bottom of the pan. Bring to a simmer, then return the patties to the skillet. Cover and cook for an additional 10-15 minutes, or until the patties are cooked through and the gravy thickens.

Garnish and Serve: Once cooked, remove from heat and sprinkle with fresh parsley. Serve the Salisbury steaks warm, drizzled with gravy, along with your choice of mashed potatoes or green beans.
