Ingredients

1 pound ground turkey

1/2 cup breadcrumbs (preferably whole wheat)

1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese

1/4 cup finely chopped fresh parsley

1/4 cup minced onion

2 cloves garlic, minced

1 large egg

1 teaspoon dried oregano

1 teaspoon salt

1/2 teaspoon black pepper

1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional, for heat)

1/4 cup milk

2 tablespoons olive oil (for cooking)

Marinara sauce (for serving)

Fresh basil leaves (for garnish)

Instructions

Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).

Mix the Meatball Ingredients: In a large bowl, combine the ground turkey, breadcrumbs, Parmesan cheese, chopped parsley, minced onion, minced garlic, egg, oregano, salt, black pepper, and red pepper flakes (if using). Pour in the milk.

Form the Meatballs: Using your hands, mix all the ingredients until just combined (do not overmix). Roll the mixture into golf ball-sized meatballs and place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.

Sear Meatballs: In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium-high heat. Once the oil is hot, carefully add the meatballs in batches, searing them for about 3-4 minutes on each side until they are golden brown.

Bake the Meatballs: Once all the meatballs are seared, transfer the baking sheet to the preheated oven and bake for 15-20 minutes or until the internal temperature reaches 165°F (75°C).

Prepare Marinara Sauce: While the meatballs are baking, warm your favorite marinara sauce in a saucepan over low heat.

Serve: Once the meatballs are cooked through, remove them from the oven. Serve the meatballs hot, topped with marinara sauce and garnished with fresh basil leaves.

Enjoy these savory turkey meatballs with spaghetti, on a sub roll, or as a delightful appetizer!
