Ingredients

1 medium head of green cabbage

1 lb ground beef (or turkey for a lighter option)

1 cup cooked rice (white or brown)

1 small onion, finely chopped

2 cloves garlic, minced

1 can (15 oz) tomato sauce

1 can (14.5 oz) diced tomatoes, drained

2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce

1 tablespoon Italian seasoning

1 teaspoon smoked paprika

Salt and pepper to taste

1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese

Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

Prepare the Cabbage:

Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Carefully remove the core from the cabbage and gently peel off 12-15 leaves. Blanch the leaves for 3-4 minutes until pliable, then transfer them to an ice bath to cool. Drain and set aside.

      Cook the Filling:

In a large skillet over medium heat, sauté the chopped onion until translucent, about 5 minutes. Add the minced garlic and cook for an additional minute until fragrant. Stir in the ground beef (or turkey), cooking until browned and cooked through. Drain excess fat.

          Combine Ingredients:

In a large mixing bowl, combine the cooked meat mixture with cooked rice, tomato sauce, diced tomatoes, Worcestershire sauce, Italian seasoning, smoked paprika, salt, and pepper. Mix well to ensure everything is evenly combined.

              Assemble the Casserole:

Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9x13-inch baking dish. Lay out a cabbage leaf and place about 1/4 cup of the meat mixture in the center. Roll the leaf tightly, tucking in the sides as you go, and place seam-side down in the prepared dish. Repeat with the remaining leaves and filling.

                  Bake:

Once the casserole dish is filled, pour any remaining tomato sauce over the stuffed cabbage rolls. Cover the dish with aluminum foil and bake for 45 minutes. Remove the foil, sprinkle mozzarella cheese on top, and bake for an additional 15 minutes until the cheese is melted and bubbly.

                      Serve:

Let the casserole cool for a few minutes before serving. Garnish with fresh parsley for a pop of color and added flavor. Serve warm and enjoy the hearty goodness!
