Ingredients

1 pound large shrimp, peeled and deveined

4 tablespoons unsalted butter

4 cloves garlic, minced

Juice and zest of 1 large lemon

1 teaspoon red pepper flakes (adjust to taste)

Salt and pepper, to taste

2 tablespoons fresh parsley, chopped

Lemon slices, for garnish

Cooked quinoa or rice, for serving (optional)

Instructions

Prepare the Shrimp: Rinse the shrimp under cold water and pat them dry with a paper towel. Season with salt and pepper to taste.

Melt the Butter: In a large skillet over medium heat, add the butter. Allow it to melt and become bubbly, but be careful not to let it brown.

Sauté the Garlic: Add the minced garlic to the skillet, stirring constantly for about 1 minute, until fragrant and lightly golden.

Cook the Shrimp: Increase the heat to medium-high and add the shrimp to the skillet in a single layer. Cook for 2-3 minutes on one side until they turn pink (do not stir too much to achieve a nice sear).

Add Lemon and Spice: Flip the shrimp over, then add the lemon juice, lemon zest, and red pepper flakes. Stir gently to coat the shrimp, and cook for an additional 2-3 minutes until the shrimp are cooked through and opaque.

Finish with Herbs: Remove from heat, and stir in the chopped parsley. Taste and adjust seasoning with more salt, pepper, or red pepper flakes if desired.

Serve: Plate the shrimp along with the sauce from the skillet. Garnish with lemon slices and serve over quinoa or rice, if desired.
