Ingredients

1 cup rolled oats

1 cup all-purpose flour

1/2 cup brown sugar, packed

1/2 cup granulated sugar

1/2 teaspoon baking soda

1/2 teaspoon salt

1 cup unsalted butter, melted

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1 1/2 cups chocolate chips (dark or semi-sweet)

1/2 cup mini marshmallows

1/2 cup chopped nuts (optional)

1/2 cup dried fruit (e.g., cranberries or raisins) (optional)

Instructions

Preheat the Oven: Start by preheating your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9x13 inch baking pan or line it with parchment paper for easy removal.

Mix Dry Ingredients: In a large mixing bowl, combine the rolled oats, all-purpose flour, brown sugar, granulated sugar, baking soda, and salt. Stir until well blended.

Add Wet Ingredients: Pour in the melted unsalted butter and vanilla extract. Mix thoroughly until the mixture is uniformly combined and resembles a crumbly dough.

Fold in Add-ins: Gently fold in the chocolate chips, mini marshmallows, nuts (if using), and dried fruit (if using) until evenly distributed throughout the dough.

Layer in the Pan: Spread the mixture evenly in the prepared baking pan, pressing it down firmly with a spatula to ensure it holds together.

Bake: Place the pan in the oven and bake for 20-25 minutes, or until the edges are golden and the center is set. The bars should feel a bit gooey in the middle.

Cool the Bars: Once done baking, remove from the oven and allow the pan to cool on a wire rack for about 15 minutes. Then, use the parchment paper to lift the bars out of the pan and let cool completely on the rack.

Cut and Serve: Once cooled, cut into squares or rectangles. Store in an airtight container at room temperature.

Prep Time: 15 minutes | Total Time: 40 minutes | Servings: 12 bars
